Prioritize Funding for Pancreatic Cancer Research

Dear [Decision Maker],

As your constituent and someone whose life has been impacted by pancreatic cancer, I stand with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and ask that you provide $15 million for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program in the fiscal year 2021 Defense Appropriations Act.

Pancreatic cancer is the world's toughest cancer. The five-year survival rate is just 10%. There are few effective treatment options and no early detection strategies. You have the power to fund lifesaving cancer research to improve the lives of current and future patients.

The House passed their fiscal year 2021 Defense Appropriations Act in July and included $15 million for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program. I am grateful for the actions already undertaken by the Senate Committee on Appropriations to make investments in this program, which was created in the fiscal year 2020 Defense Appropriations Act. Building on the initial investment will significantly advance our understanding of the disease.

Pancreatic cancer does not slow down or let up and more than 57,000 Americans will be diagnosed this year. Please continue to work in a bipartisan manner to pass a fiscal year 2021 Defense Appropriations Act that includes $15 million for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program, so that researchers have the resources needed to make progress.
