Sign the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program Dear Colleague

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am a constituent and someone who has been impacted by pancreatic cancer. I ask that you sign the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program Dear Colleague letter to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. Investment in this research program supports innovative and impactful research to accelerate the discovery and development of new treatments to improve the lives of pancreatic cancer patients.

Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, and it has the lowest five-year survival rate of all major cancers at just 11 percent. This is a disease with no early detection strategy and no treatment options that offer a cure. There are always more pancreatic cancer researchers who apply for grants than the program can fund, and continued resources for the program will ensure more competitive projects can be funded.

That is why I urge you to sign the Dear Colleague letter spearheaded by Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Mike Crapo (R-ID). The letter to the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee requests continued funding for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program at the DoD.

I ask that you sign this letter by May 13 to ensure its consideration during the FY23 appropriations process. Please contact Rachel Fybel (Rachel_Fybel@whitehouse.senate.gov) in Sen. Whitehouse's office or Elizabeth Bender (Elizabeth_Bender@crapo.senate.gov) in Sen. Crapo's office to sign the letter.

Thank you for your consideration and I hope that I can count on your support.

Sincerely,
