Thank your members of Congress for providing $15 million for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program for FY22.
Thank you for continuing progress for pancreatic cancer patients!
Dear [Decision Maker],
As your constituent, and someone who has been impacted by pancreatic cancer, I am grateful to Congress for reaching a bipartisan agreement on the FY22 budget that provides $15 million for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program at the Department of Defense (DoD). I also appreciate the $2.25 billion increase for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which includes a $353 million increase for the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, and the five-year survival rate is just 11% - the only way to increase the survival rate is through research. While progress is being made, the facts and statistics tell me more must be done and continued federal investments in pancreatic cancer research are critical to scientific breakthroughs for a disease with no early detection strategy and few effective treatment options. This year, 62,210 Americans are expected to be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 49,830 Americans will die from the disease. I want to thank you for saving lives and changing patient outcomes through investments in cancer research.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP][Your Email]
