In memory of my brother Doug, his wife Julie and I are supporting PanCAN’s vision to create a world in which all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive.
Doug worked as a geochemist at the University of Georgia's Center for Applied Isotope Studies, but more than anything he loved teaching geology in the field to undergraduates during the summers for both the UGA Geology Field School and the UGA Interdisciplinary Field Program. He formed special bonds and friendships with his students, and always loved to hear about their later career success and especially the joy they discovered traveling, camping, hiking, climbing, or skiing.
Doug also loved music, guitars, and dogs. Most especially, old black dogs. His life was not complete without being surrounded by a loving pack of sweet old dogs.
PanCan was a tremendous resource for us in Doug’s fight with this insidious cancer until it took him from us too soon in November 2022…and Julie and I want to do whatever we can to advance scientific research, share knowledge, and advocate for other patients and families affected by this horrible disease.Every dollar you give funds life-changing programs and services for patients and their families.
