For my 50th birthday, I'm asking for donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in honor of our Dad, Eliot, who bravely fought but lost his Pancreatic Cancer battle.
Diagnosed Pancreatic Cancer patients have only a 12% 5-year survival rate- an increase of 1% from last year. My Dad survived almost a year. He was diagnosed with stage 3, and at his death, stage 4 metastasized; the 5-year survival rate was only 11%. A 1% survival rate increase matters- he would have been happy to have been a part of that 11%, so I want to raise funds and awareness to help other patients be a part of it.
Pancreatic Cancer, usually diagnosed at stages 2-3, hides and then shows up, crushing everyone in its path. Patients, friends and family members. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network provides dollars for pancreatic cancer research, support to patients navigating treatment and support to caregivers and patients' friends and family members. My Dad and our family were blessed to have resources that supported us while navigating Dad's treatments and care. People we trusted and who went above and beyond to help guide us every step of the way, including helping to pick his clinical trials and treatment paths.
Resources are essential when you are facing a battle for your life! The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network provides a similar type of support that we had from our medical and science friends, which is why I strongly support their mission. Through their patient services, they provide more resources and speak with more pancreatic cancer patients and caregivers than any other organization worldwide.
2023 the estimation is that 64,050 people in America will be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer- 50,550 will die in less than 5 years. Please join me in helping to support these patients in the battle for their life and in honor of my Dad and me becoming an old lady at 50! XO T
PanCAN's mission is to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge, and advocating for patients.
