Aly & Joanne ("Mom")
Hi, We are Sammi Zola and Dave Kliff... a daughter-daddy duo who decided it would be fun to train for a triathlon together! We each love setting goals and pushing out body to the limit. Dad has done 11 triathlons and multiple marathons. I have done 1 marathon and a few 1/2 marathons... but no Triathlons yet.
For every race we participate in, we each pick a charity that is near and dear to our hearts. When we started training, the charity was not 100% clear. We first said we'd do it for ourselves and for each other. Then, it hit us like a ton of bricks... one gloomy afternoon we received the news that our newest family member's mom, Aly (married to Dan - mom is Joanne), was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
This diagnosis was/is heart breaking with a hard outlook to face. From that moment forward we dedicated ourselves to "Doing it for Aly's Mom, Joanne". We've been through this ourselves and the only way to not feel helpless is to (1) raise money to help patience, research and families and (2) provide support.
SO.... we need you help to do this! Our goal is to raise $5k in the next 3 weeks before we jump into the ocean in San Diego on September 9th.
