In honor of our Mom, we are supporting PanCAN’s vision to create a world in which all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive.
Our Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on February 24th, 2025. Everything suddenly just stopped that day. We all came together in support of our Mom, and to make sure she knew that we were with her every step of the way. How little we knew at that time, never could we have imagined that we would only have 73 more days together.
Pancreatic cancer is rarely diagnosed in early stages. We have since learned that the majority of patients with pancreatic cancer are diagnosed at Stage 4. Often times symptoms are misdiagnosed or brushed off as a side effect of something else, until it's too late. At this time there is no preventive testing available. This is simply not acceptable. We can do better, we must do better, for our loved ones and yours.
Because We Had Her
In loving memory of Kathleen Maurer
Because we had her, our days were brighter,
Our hearts were fuller, our burdens lighter.
She brought beauty wherever she'd go
With colors, with kindness, with a heart that would glow.
She gave without asking, she loved without end,
A mother, an artist, a true, loyal friend.
In every sweet memory we'll always hold dear.
Though we miss her smile, her hugs, her grace,
We still feel her love - time won't erase.
She lives in the joy that she helped us to see,
In the love that we share, in the people we'll be.
And now she paints sunsets in skies up above,
Forever surrounded by God's endless love.
