In 2005 at the age of 46, my dad, Ken Wood, was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer of the pancreas. His only symptom, back pain.
Due to the size of the tumor, his medical team opted for immediate surgical intervention. Unfortunately, it was determined during the attempted Whipple procedure that the location of the mass made removal too risky. He was denied from every clinical trial due to the advanced stage of his cancer, even being called a "walking time bomb" by one doctor. He proceeded with chemotherapy as his last, and only, option.
Over the next year and a half he continued to live life to the fullest. Traveling with family, golfing with friends, and remodeling our family home between rounds of chemo. He fought with everything he had until he passed in October 2007.
With your support, I’m taking bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer.
Please make a gift of any size to get me one step closer to my fundraising goal and help PanCAN create a world in which all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive.
Patients and families need us now more than ever.
I am grateful for your generous support.
