He called this his "Album Cover" lol
Brian was only 48 years old when he died from pancreatic cancer. He only had 9 weeks from diagnosis to death. He left behind his beloved wife, Andrea, daughter Hannah Rose, and a devoted squad of friends and family.
Brian loved Lord of the Rings, music, inappropriate humor, and showing others kindness. One of the perfect examples of Brian's inherent generosity was how he treated service employees with whom he interacted. He routinely tipped 100%, on both large and small purchases. Sometimes, the server or delivery staff would see the tip before Brian left, and they would ring the bell or try to make a big deal over Brian, but that was embarrassing to him. He didn't do it for recognition. He did it as a thank you and to pay people what their labor was worth.
Tipping is a uniquely American phenomenon that is problematic at best. Still, it's the system we have and Brian worked within it to make sure the people who helped him were helped in turn.
For this fundraiser, make BIG tips in his honor to PanCan and help this organization that helped him so much during his 9-week battle with pancreatic cancer.
If you can, take a second step. Help us spread the word by tipping the service staff in your life Big for Brian. When you do, let them know they have been a recipient of a #TipBigForBrian. Share your receipts or notes to our FB fundraiser page or make public posts on your own social media using our hashtags.
Some ideas:
- Tip big on dining checks and write #TipBigForBrian near the signature line
- Leave gifts or tips for delivery drivers with the link to this fundraiser
- Talk to your baristas & bartenders about the movement, share the legacy and spread the word
- In a "pay it forward" drive thru, let the staff know you're doing it in honor of Brian, and encourage others to do the same
- If you've tipped big, or received a big tip, share your experience and challenge your friends and family to do the same and/or donate to PanCan in memory of Brian!

With your help, we can make this go viral, raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer and helping raise the funds needed for further research and help for everyone affected by this terrible disease that cut a brilliant life short.
Brian's only symptom was a mild stomachache and a paranoid wife who wouldn't take "gallstones" for an answer. Better research, screening, treatments, and even a cure, are possible in our lifetimes.
