My mom, Patricia Smart, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in July 2021 and fought bravely until her death in October 2022. Her adventurous spirit lives on in her art and in those she left behind.
Pat is from the Albany, New York area. A former elementary school teacher, she retired early to pursue an Art career. After extensive coursework at local colleges, where printmaking was a focus, she continued to study painting, particularly watercolor. She was a member of several art organizations in the Albany area where she also had solo shows and taught after school enrichment workshops for children and batik and monotype workshops for adults.
Pat and her husband, Rick, spent winters on Sanibel Island Florida for many years where she was a member of BIG Arts and Sanibel Captiva Art League. She held several positions on SCAL and served as President for two years. She facilitated batik, painting and printmaking classes for friends and neighbors on Sanibel.
Being a devoted grandmother prompted a move to San Diego. She spent countless hours volunteering her time in art classes at Skyline Elementary in support of her grandchildren.
Nature and travel provided inspiration for her many artistic endeavors. Her work hangs in many private collections and she has received numerous awards in upstate New York, Sanibel and San Diego.
Please purchase Pat's art currently shown at The Flower Pot Cafe & Bakery in La Jolla or make a gift of any size to get me one step closer to my fundraising goal and help PanCAN create a world in which all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive.Printable donation form - print and mail.
