Pancreatic cancer is a cruel, brutal disease. It is often found far too late to be able to treat effectively, making it one of the deadliest cancers. My mom had very vague symptoms (a strange rash, heartburn, weight loss, and fluctuation in her insulin levels), but never any severe enough for her doctors to be concerned until it was far too late.
The Brooklyn Half falls on my mom’s birthday this year. I’d love to run in her memory and fundraise to a wonderful organization that is incredibly supportive of patients and their families. During the early days of my mom’s diagnosis, the “Stories of Hope” were so comforting for both me and my mom. They supported us throughout her treatment and even after she passed.
