Before she got sick, my wife Kate began each morning with a walk on the beach. "The way life should be," she used to say. We lost her to pancreatic cancer in late 2022 just six weeks after diagnosis. Grief-stricken, I set out on a 13 day, 155 mile solo walk last August to honor her memory, which we called "Kate's Journey." With the support of loved ones and strangers alike, we were fortunate (and floored) to raise over $100K for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
This year, "Kate's Journey" continues with a 5K fundraising walk on Saturday, September 21, her 67th birthday. We'll gather at Main Beach in downtown Ogunquit and at 9:00 a.m. set out together on the walk she took every morning and loved so much. Even if you're unable to join us, please consider contributing to this fundraising page. The five-year survival rate following a pancreatic cancer diagnosis is just 13%, and funding for earlier diagnosis and treatment is desperately needed. There's still a long way to a cure, but even the most challenging journeys begin with a single step...
Hope to see you at the 5K, and thank you for your support!
