Last year, I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer. I miss her a lot and think about her often. I didn't know much pancreatic cancer before she was diagnosed. If you're not aware, pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest five-year survival rates among all cancer types, at just 11% It also regularly goes undetected until it is already at an advanced stage and then can progress rapidly.
In the year my mom fought her pancreatic cancer, she was able to attend Leah and my wedding, meet her granddaughter Sadie, and spend precious time with my Dad and Sisters family in Massachusetts. I'm grateful for that, but I wish we had more time together.
Last year I ran at the Run for the Trees 5k in April here in Missoula. This year I want to run it again in memory of my mom and to contribute to the fight against pancreatic cancer.

I’m aiming to raise $250 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. This organization is focused on facing pancreatic cancer every day through research, support, and advocacy. Any money we raise means they can keep pushing forward, finding better treatments, and, hopefully, a cure.
