Greetings Friends and Family!
In January of 2013, Mom and Jess ran The Goofy Challenge at Walt Disney World. They ran a half-marathon on a Saturday and a full marathon on a Sunday - 39.3 miles in total. Now the challenge has evolved into The Dopey: a 5K, a 10K, a half-marathon, and a full marathon. That's a total of 48.6 miles, over four days, and it's my turn to do it.
I tried in the spring to get registered under a few different cancer affiliated charities to run with and for, but they didn't have any spots available. I took that opportunity to re-evaluate who I really wanted to be my teammates for this journey and guess what? IT'S YOU!
PanCAN has been an essential tool for us as we navigate the world of Pancreatic Cancer. They have been a free, personalized treatement and clinical trial resource that we have found invaluable throughout this process. Mom is actually on a PanCAN clinical trial right now called The PanCAN Precision Promise Trial. It has certainly worked out better this way - rather than raise money for Disney's charity partners, we can choose our own.
I am asking our friends and family to chose one of the miles of my run to sponsor. For every donation made, I wll get a temporary tattoo made with your name on it and place it on my leg pre-race. Once I complete your mile, I will check it off, essentially confirming that you ran that mile with me.
The Continual Soirée will match the amount I raise.
We have been immeasurably blessed with the greatest friends and family in the world and look forward to working alongside you as we count down the days until I run a lot of MAGICAL miles in Walt Disney World in January of 2023.
