Fundraising in honor of my dad, who we lost to pancreatic cancer

In early January 2020, we received the devastating news that my Father, my favorite person in the world, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 

Instantly, my family and I got to work researching what we could do to help him fight and keep him around as long as possible. After some convincing, we talked him into scheduling a Whipple to try and get rid of the cancer that was ravaging his pancreas. While we waited at the hospital during his surgery, we received more devastating news. The surgeons opened him up and felt tumors throughout his liver. He was no longer a candidate because the cancer had metastasized and they closed him up without performing it. 

He fought. But after multiple rounds of chemo he decided that it was time to let go - it wasn’t stopping the cancer from spreading and it was just making him sick and weak. Only 10 months after his diagnosis we lost him on 10/16/2020. 

I walk because of the immense love I have for my Dad. I walk because I want to help families whose loved ones are diagnosed. I walk because I want to honor him and the impact he’s had on so many lives.
