Janet Neal's Story

On August 1st 2022, my mom woke up like any normal day. When she looked in the mirror, she realized her eyes, skin, and nails had turned as yellow as her school bus. With no other symptoms besides some skin irritations lasting the previous months, she was turned away from 3 different emergency rooms until finally being admitted. That day our entire family's life changed forever. My mom went from the picture of health to a Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer patient.

The next few weeks were a whirlwind, with multiple procedures to attempt to stent the bile ducts which were being blocked by the large tumor on her pancreas. On August 23rd, 2022 she underwent a 14-hour long whipple procedure which required emergency intervention from the transplant team to remove the parts of the tumor that were entangled in her arteries. After the procedure my mom underwent 6 months of strong chemotherapy, and was declared in remission in February 2023.

Nearly 1 year to the date of her remission, we learned the tumor had once again grown back in the same spot. She underwent radiation and 6 more months of chemo - all while still driving her school bus!

In August 2023, she was declared in remission once again. Unfortunately, this was short lived and she was back on chemotherapy 5 weeks later. She continued to work and undergo treatment until December 5th, 2024, when she was hospitalized for intractable vomiting and unrelenting pain. Since then, she has underwent multiple procedures and hospital stays, and is now living with a feeding tube and a nephrostomy bag. She is still undergoing more aggressive chemotherapy and seems to be responding well.

We are currently in this most difficult part of her battle, but we have seen many miracles and we are confident that God will guide us through. Thank you for reading my mom's story, and thank you for donating!
