June 5th, 2024, I got the call from Mom.

7 months and 4 days later, she took her last breath.

There were no warnings. None that the doctors saw. None that couldn't be chalked up to something else.. IBS, Diverticulitis, too much ice cream... 

But it wasn't that. It was Pancreatic Cancer. In just over 7 months, my vibrant, happy-go-lucky, impish mom was gone from this world.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers out there because it's symptoms are so hard to differentiate from anything else. 

There needs to be more treatment. There needs to be more research. 

In memory of my wonderful Mom, Tod, the girls and I will be walking the PanCan PurpleStride walk in Richmond during Spring Break (4/26) in honor of Mom.

To my girls, Mom was "Grammy", but she was such a silly playmate, Tod had nicknamed her "The Grammilator", so in her honor, our team is the Grammilators.

PurpleStride raises money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
