Walking in Loving Memory of My Mom — and Two Dear Friends

On Saturday, April 25th, 2026, I’ll be participating in PurpleStride to raise critical funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. This cause is deeply personal to me, and each year I walk with the hope of creating a future where families don’t have to endure the heartbreak this disease brings.

I walk first and foremost in memory of my mom, Lorraine Riley, who we lost 13 years ago. Her love, strength, and spirit continue to guide me every day.

But this past year has brought even more loss. In 2025, two dear friends—Lex Parsons and Vince Gentiletti—were also taken by pancreatic cancer far too soon.

Losing Lex and Vince so close together was devastating. Their courage, humor, and kindness left a mark on everyone who knew them. I carry their memory with me as I walk, and I’m more determined than ever to support research, early detection, and better treatments.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
