We need help...Fighting Pancreatic Cancer

 

2025: Here we go, back for another year! Raising money for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), which leads the world in the fight against pancreatic cancer. 

It's been a tough year. 

Lost our home on January 7th to the Palisades Fires. Living in a rental as I write this note.

Lost a dear friend (and patient) Joyette to Pancreatic Cancer a few weeks ago. 

Lost a lot of other patients and friends whose names I can't print, but who fought valiantly and whom I was honored to walk with. 

But there is hope. 

- We have more survivors than ever before. So many have become close friends. We're learning more about the biology of this cancer. 

- Robotic Surgery - faster recovery when you need surgery.

- New types of chemotherapy, new lines of drug development (heard about the new "kras drugs"?).

- New devices to kill tumors (heard about histotripsy, and pulsed electric field treatment?).

- New clinical trials (heard of the Alliance Trial at Cedars to determine when it's best to do surgery). 

Every one of these advancements is aided by PanCAN and events like PurpleStride LA. 

And with changes in government funding, we need all the help we can get.

So how can you help?

You can donate money. 

PanCAN will do the rest.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
