As most of you know, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2021. I'm so thankful my tumor was found early, unlike 80% of patients where it has already spread. After a year of chemotherapy and a 9 hour surgery I remain cancer free! I owe this miracle of healing to Jesus (Isaiah 53:5), as he worked through my oncologist, surgeon and nurses to give them the knowledge for my successful treatments. I also would not have made it without the incredible support and prayers of my family and friends.
Soon after my diagnosis I contacted Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan) that provides patient services, funding for research and advocacy for patients fighting this disease. The support I received from them was so helpful and encouraging during my journey.
Every April, 60 cities across the country come together for Purple Stride, an event to raise much needed funding for clinical research to improve patient outcomes. As of today the 5 year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is only 13%, the lowest among all cancers. We need to find more effective therapies and even more importantly an early detection test. Finding this cancer before it has spread is the only hope of beating this disease.
This will be my 4th year at Purple Stride as a survivor! I am so thankful for what we have learned from those who have fought this battle before me and I must do what I can for those who come after and share about what the Lord has done in my life.
Will you consider helping me improve the 13% survival rate?
I am hoping to raise $5000 so any donation is appreciated.
