I was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer on November 11, 2021.  Many people diagnosed after me, are not here now.  I knew some, and I prayed for many.  Thousands diagnosed before me, are not here.  This cancer is often undetectable until it has spread significantly.  Its called the Silent Killer.

After exhausting both chemotherapies and three surgeries, I found a promising clinical trial and entered the Phase 1 study.  It offered an innovative approach to treating pancreatic cancer and it worked for me for 6 months!  It continues in trial phase and is hoped to be released 4Q2026. This trial and others, applicable in some way to all cancers, are very expensive.  They are supported by generous people like yourselves, with support from the NIH government funding when available.

Next I tried chemo again in tandem with radiation.  It stabilized the tumor growth and allowed me to continue my life building community, serving others and loving my family, friends, and clients.  Still, I am not cured.  I am well aware that this defiant disease is circulating in my system (via periodic blood tests) and the tumor is there.   Yet, I live with the HOPE that this disease can become chronic and treatable long term.   

 Immunotherapy, vaccines, and DNA-targetted therapies are on the horizon, as well as early detection modalities. Time is of the essence - for me and many others.  This diagnosis is happening in the lives of 30 and 40 year olds now.  Pancreas Cancer is projected to be the 2nd most lethal cancer in 2025.  Yet, there remains no screening test for this killer.
