Purple Stride 2026, April 25!

My husband, Scott, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. He was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in the spring of 2023, underwent six months of very strong chemo, and continued a fairly normal life with maintenance chemo until May 2025. At that time the scans showed the cancer was no longer responding to the chemo. He did try 2 clinical trials, one here in Pittsburgh with Allegheny Health Network and one in Boston with Massachusetts General Hospital. He stayed positive and fought hard for a long time. We are thankful for the time we had together.

Although Scott will not be walking with us in person this year, he will be with the Groovy Gorham Gang in spirit. 

We hope you will join us in honoring Scott's memory with a donation or in person for PanCAN Purple Stride in Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Last year we had a team of 20+ and many out-of-town supporters who raised over $30,000 to fight Pancreatic Cancer. The Groovy Gorham Gang thanks all of you for your support. We hope we can do even better this year. We are making a difference!

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
