My Why

I am walking in loving memory of my sister Dottie, whose courage continues to guide and inspire me every day. Losing Dottie changed my life forever. I walk because she fought with strength and dignity—and because too many families are still facing this painful, devastating battle.

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers, but we are seeing hopeful progress. The 5-year survival rate has increased from 5% to 13%, an important step forward driven by research, early detection, and advocates across the country.

Why PurpleStride 2026 Matters to Me

I walk for Dottie, for every family who has lost someone they love, for those who are still fighting, and for the breakthroughs that can spare future families from this heartbreak. Every single donation helps move us closer to earlier diagnosis, better treatments, and more survivors.

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
