Thanks for supporting my PanCAN PurpleStride fundraiser!

My dad, Anthony aka Tony Brown, was my rock and truly the best father a girl could ask for. Not only was my dad my entire world he was the healthiest person I knew, so on April 30th when he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer my world turned upside down. Anyone that knew my dad on and off the court knew he was full of life and he left his mark on everyone he met. From diagnosis to passing he battled pancreatic cancer for 538 days. I will never get the memory of us sitting at Emory during his chemo which would be administered over 3 days watching the strongest person I knew barely be able to hold a spoon. October 22nd 2022, my father lost his battle to cancer after 20 days in hospice. During that time we were grateful to receive incredible care, advice, support and part of that is because of foundations like PANCAN that serve as pillars for others with no answers and a scary diagnosis. PANCAN is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing research, supporting patients and caregivers and advocating for improved treatments and early detection. The harsh reality of pancreatic cancer is that though advancements are being made only 13% of those diagnosed will survive. Many get half the time my dad did with the majority of those diagnosed with stage 4 only live for a few months after finding out.  With continued research, better early detection, new trials, and supportive resources like PanCAN, we can strive toward a future where fewer families are forced to say goodbye far too soon. Every dollar you donate helps fund those advances, offering hope to patients and their loved ones.

 

My goal is to raise $5,380 - symbolic $10 a day for each day he battled pancreatic cancer - to support pancreatic cancer research and patient research so that more people don't have to lose someone they love.  With your help, we can honor his memory and push forward toward a future with more survivors.

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
