December 5, 2025 marks 7 years without my dad, Pat. Every year, I am struck with just how close he was to getting to meet my daughter face to face (her 7th birthday is on the 18th). It is one of those mysterious “no’s” from God that still bewilders me, but my trust in Him does not waiver. 


In April, I am participating in the PanCAN PurpleStrides Fun Walk to raise awareness and funds for holistic pancreatic cancer research, treatment, and patient support. Pancreatic cancer has a 5 year survival rate of just 13%. My dad only survived 89 days from prognosis to passing away. His is a common experience.


PanCAN PurpleStride is an inspiring event for anyone who has been affected by pancreatic cancer and wants to ensure vital research continues and free resources are made available to all who need them. It’s a worthy cause.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
