We are proudly walking/running/fundraising in honor of an extraordinary man, Michael Budz, who passed away from pancreatic cancer on August 5, 2024.

Michael (Mike) was defined by his drive, his passion, and his love for family. As a highly successful man in sales, he brought that same dedication and energy to everything he did. But above all, he was a family-oriented man. He and his ex-wife created a wonderful, co-parenting family dynamic that was a great source of pride for him. His greatest joys were his three children—especially his oldest son—and the beautiful relationship he shared with his wife. He was their greatest advocate, biggest supporter, and most dedicated Chicago Bears fan!

Mike faced his diagnosis with immense strength, but this aggressive disease took him from us devastatingly fast, just three and a half weeks after he was diagnosed. The swift and brutal nature of pancreatic cancer makes our mission clear: we must accelerate the research and find early detection methods that can save lives.

By forming Whatever It Takes, we are continuing Mike’s legacy of hard work and love, and turning our heartbreak into hope for others. We are fighting so that fewer families have to endure the shock and pain of losing their rock so quickly.
