Team Bigelow has been Waging Hope since 2008, when Elaine and Susan first participated in a 5k run in Richmond to honor Doug's memory.  Since then, the survival rate for pancreatic cancer has crept up from about 4 percent to 13 percent, but it's still way too low for the 60,000  plus Americans who will be diagnosed in 2026. 

Team Bigelow remembers and honors Doug and the other family members we have lost to pancreatic cancer, Joe and Helen Okula, and Shirley Okula, by lacing up our running shoes  - this is our 15th "official" PurpleStride since 2010.  We also want to honor the memory of Doug's best friend, Ted Packard, who passed from pancreatic cancer in 2025.  

Christmas Eve, 2025 will be the 20th anniversary of Doug's death.  

In the last few years Team Bigelow has placed in the top ten teams for PurpleStride Maryland. Can you help us get there again this year?
