Welcome to Our PanCAN PurpleStride Team Fundraising Page, in memory of John Zimmer!

Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need YOU to do it!

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.

 

DID YOU KNOW?

 

  • The survival rate for pancreatic cancer is 13%
  • Pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall cancer research funding
  • There is no standard early detection test for pancreatic cancer, and few effective treatments are available
  • Symptoms of pancreatic cancer are vague and often overlooked by medical professionals, leaving little treatment options when detection is possible

 

John had a simple ER visit for abdominal pain that turned in a devastating 4-month uphill battle. Despite the many challenges, he never wavered from his commitment to living life the way he always had: Spreading laughter, loving his family, spending time with his friends, enjoying his love for sports....and fighting this terrible disease.

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
