Hello there!
Elaine Gabell here, Jennifer Ackley's firstborn daughter. You're reading this because you've been touched by Jenny: either directly - through interaction with her, or indirectly - through her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, or grandchildren.
2024 was the worst year of my life: My mother was diagnosed with and died of metastatic pancreatic cancer in the matter of 7 months. Since her passing, fighting this horrific disease has become my mission. No one should have to bear witness to their loved one suffering so.
There are many organizations fighting this good fight, among them PanCAN - a SoCal non-profit working to research this "rare" disease, educate and ensure resources for those in marginalized communities, and lobby Capitol Hill to enact laws enabling early detection - often the only pathway to survivorship.
PurpleStride is PanCAN's annual walk to fundraise for this cause. They host events nationally - so check to see if there's one near you (it's FREE to join)! Ours happens to be very local (Irvine), and the weekend of my birthday - so I knew it was meant to be!
We'll be walking to END PANCREATIC CANCER on SATURDAY, APRIL 25th, 2026! If you're able and willing to join JENNY'S ANGELS, please do! If you can't or don't want to walk, please consider donating to the team or to one of us individually. Any amount however small makes a big impact!
Hope to see some of you alongside us in April! Regardless of whether you can join or not: THANK YOU for supporting us and everyone affected by pancreatic cancer. We’re grateful for you!
In gratitude,
Elaine, Andrew, Ethan & Gloria
