With love in our hearts, we’re inviting you to walk with us on April 25, 2026, in Washington, DC for the PanCAN PurpleStride Walk for Pancreatic Cancer, as we honor and celebrate the living memory of our beloved LaVerne “Cookie” .

Cookie was the heart of our family, our glue, our matriarch, our safe place. She loved deeply, held us together, and built a legacy of love that lives on through all of us. Losing her so suddenly to pancreatic cancer changed us forever, and we’re walking so her story and the stories of so many others lead to hope, awareness, and action.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, largely because it is often detected too late. There is currently no reliable early detection test, which makes research not just important, but urgent. Every step we take and every dollar raised helps support:

• Life-saving research focused on earlier detection

• Better treatment options and outcomes

• Increased awareness so families don’t face this disease without answers

That’s why our team, “Rooted by Cookie,” is coming together — to turn love into action and honor her by pushing for a future where pancreatic cancer is caught earlier and lives are saved.
