I want to share our personal story about why this event is so meaningful to me. 

Pancreatic cancer first entered my life when my Uncle Kim was diagnosed in April 2020. After a world of changes at the time, we focused on the memory of his compassionate spirit and joy for life. 

Three years later, pancreatic cancer entered the picture again. My mom, Diane, was diagnosed with an early stage of pancreatic cancer in August 2023, the same week we welcomed the birth of our second child. After six months of chemo and a surgery to remove the cancer, she was cancer-free! Through it all, we leaned on the love and support of God, family, and friends. Another ten months later, the cancer returned. She continued her fight with a later stage diagnosis and calm strength. There is no better example of endurance alongside our family’s everyday milestones of life. She gave it her all, and passed away on January 28, 2026, two weeks after celebrating her 65th birthday.

The PanCAN PurpleStride walk on April 25th is an opportunity for us to share the impacts of pancreatic cancer. Whether you choose to show up, donate, or simply reach out, we hope to connect in this journey, as we take steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.
