We walk in loving memory of Calvin Chase, Jr., who passed away peacefully at the age of 61 on July 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Calvin, Jr. was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, respected brother, and a dear friend to so many. To those who knew him best, he was affectionately known as Heavy, Bill, Big C, Big Chase, or Junie—names that reflected the big presence, big heart, and deep impact he had on everyone around him.

Calvin, Jr. found joy in life’s simple blessings: spending time with his children, talking on the phone with friends, riding around Calvert County, keeping his cars spotless, attending church, and making regular stops at Dunkin’ Donuts and K&G. He was known for his great conversations, gentle spirit, generosity, and genuine kindness. Calvin, Jr. had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued.

This walk is more than steps—it is a tribute to a life filled with love, faith, laughter, and service. We walk to honor Calvin Jr.’s legacy, to remember all those who have lost their lives to pancreatic cancer, and to support continued research, awareness, and hope for future families. Calvin, Jr. is deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the love he leaves behind.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.

We're proud to be taking steps as a team to end pancreatic cancer at PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, PanCAN PurpleStride!

PurpleStride is an inspiring event for anyone who has been affected by pancreatic cancer and wants to ensure vital research continues and free resources are made available to all who need them.

To make the biggest difference, we’ve set an ambitious team fundraising goal and need your help – will you donate to our fundraiser? You can donate directly to the team (which will not go toward a specific team member’s goal) or you can select a team member and donate toward that person's fundraising goal (which will also support the team’s goal)!

A gift of any size will provide much-needed hope for a brighter future for the entire pancreatic cancer community.
