PurpleStride 2026 – April 25, 2026

On April 25, 2026, I will be walking in PurpleStride to support PanCAN and everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer. I hope you will consider joining our team or making a donation to support this incredible cause.

My journey began in March 2024 when I was hospitalized with pancreatitis and a stomach ulcer. After a five-day stay, doctors discovered a tumor on the head of my pancreas and another on my kidney. I was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas and renal cancer.

2024 was overwhelming.

In July, I underwent cryoablation for the kidney tumor. Thankfully, it was successful — and all follow-up scans to date show I am cancer free from that diagnosis.

On October 25, 2024, I had the Whipple procedure. I spent five days in the hospital and about eight weeks recovering before I could return to most of my normal routine. Recovery wasn’t easy, and I still deal with some eating issues and discomfort, but overall I feel healthier than I have in a long time. Since surgery, all of my scans have been clear — something I never take for granted.

I could not have made it through this without my incredible family and friends. Their support, prayers, meals, rides, check-ins, and love carried me through the hardest days.

I’m also deeply grateful for my amazing medical team at Henry Ford —

Dr. Kwon (Surgery),
and Dr. Massa (Interventional Radiology).
Their care before, during, and after surgery made all the difference.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest cancers out there. Research, early detection, and support matter. That’s why I’m walking.
