Why I ride

  • Nearly half of the individuals who receive a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer today will not be alive to ring in 2023.
  • This year alone, over 62,000 Americans will be diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. 
  • In 1991, the 5-year survival rate was approximately 4.4%. Today, the survival rate is 11%, but the median survival time remains right around 6 months.
  • In just my own small circle, it seems I loose more people before the next PurpleRideStride nearly every year. In 2018, it took my cousin Dale in an aggressive and mind-numbingly rapid manner.
  • When my Mom was diagnosed in 2006, we got to have her with us a relatively long 15 months, but we saw what she had to put herself through to get what little time she did. 

This is why I ride.

This is why I ask you to consider a monetary donation to this cause, even though I know there are so very many worthy causes that you already support.

Together with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, we can fund important research into treatment, cure, and prevention of this devastating disease.

On One Big Day, through 60 PurpleStride events taking place across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
