Four People. One Family. Enough is Enough

Pancreatic cancer has struck four times in the Okula-Bigelow family.

Mom, Dad, Doug, Shirley.

A year after Doug passed, I felt I had to do something. So I began volunteering for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Over the past 16 years, I've lobbied Congress for more research dollars, organized a few PurpleStrides and raised awareness. Elaine and I formed Team Bigelow to run or walk in PurpleStrides, and you, my generous friends and family, have stepped up and given to support our team and honor the memory of our dear ones.

Treatment and research is advancing, but pancreatic cancer is still one of the deadliest cancers with only a 11 percent five-year survival rate. More than 60,000 people in the U.S. were handed this awful diagnosis in just the past year.

So here I am back again to ask for your support. PanCAN continues to get the highest ranking possible for charities that shepherd their donations well. In PanCAN's case, that means millions of dollars awarded in research grants and personal outreach and support to tens of thousands of pancreatic cancer patients.

My profound thanks for your continued giving!
