Welcome to My Personal Page

Why do I stride?  I stride for my younger brother, Jason, who lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer on May 14, 2009 at the age of 29.  It's hard to believe he's been gone 11 years now.  This is and always has been a way for me to honor his life.  I knew very little about this disease before he was diagnosed on November 26, 2005.  The story of his fight is not uncommon.  The key to beating any cancer is to find it early before it has a chance to spread to other organs.  Unfortunately, symptoms rarely appear in the early stages of this disease and are often attributed to other conditions.  This is why only 1 in 5 people survive more than a year after diagnosis and the 5-year survival rate is only 7%.  The good news is that these numbers continue to improve thanks to the efforts of doctors committed to finding a cure for this terrible disease.

This is an important way for me to honor my little brother by raising awareness and doing my part to help find a cure.
