The month of PurpleStride Alabama 2022 will mark 11 years since I received the diagnosis of STAGE 3 PANCREATIC CANCER. At that time in 2011, the survival rate for stage 3 was a devastating 3%. The overall rate was 5% and had been stuck at 5% for many years.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network set a goal to double that 5% rate by 2020.     Thanks to all of the money raised by PurpleStride Events, the survival rate, as of January 2022, has increased to 11%. As great as that is, an 11% survival rate is still unacceptable so we need to continue to raise money.

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
