I'm raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in NYC PurpleStride.  This is a great organization dedicated to the fight against Pancreatic Cancer...a fight my mother was a part of for a decade.

In 2008, my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer & underwent the Whipple procedure. The surgery claimed 85% of her pancreas, part of her stomach, as well as her gallbladder & spleen. It left her a type I diabetic with months of radiation and chemo to look forward to. She was considered one of the lucky ones. Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest cancers to detect and even harder to survive from. In 2016, Pancreatic Cancer made a return visit to my mother.  For 2 1/2 more years, she fought valiantly and humbly.  In honor of my mother and all others who stand or have stood up to this disease (and for their families), I have reactivated my team, Jersey Girls Don't Pump Gas, for anyone who wishes to join me for the walk and an afternoon in The Seaport District of NYC. My mother stubbornly fought this disease almost as fiercely as she has fought the idea of pumping her own gas, despite living in FL for 14 years. Any donations are greatly appreciated as more funding needs to go to researching this awful disease. Thanks for your consideration.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
