We're Going to Rock PurpleStride - 2020 on 6/27 at Soldier Field (we hope)!
As of April 3rd, we are scheduled for the Walk to End Pancreatic Cancer. However, given the uncertain circumstances of the Covid-19 virus, we may be hosting a "virtual" 5K. As difficult as it is to predict today where we'll be on June 27th, our efforts to raise funds for research, are as important as ever.
In 2014 my brother, Curt, or Mt. Carmel's Coach E, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. We were shocked. We had already lost our mom to this disease 30 years earlier, and, in the past few years I've had to say good-bye to several dear friends who also fell to pancreatic cancer. This year alone, 56,000 people will be diagnosed with this disease. Since 2014, the 5-year survival rate moved from 6% to 10%. Today, that means 10 out of 100 patients will live to the 5 year mark. While this is progress, most people will be gone within a year of their diagnosis, like my mom and Curt.
Pancreatic Cancer continues to have the lowest survival rate. We demand better than this!
Your donation today helps fund the research to find early detection methods, to develop targeted therapies for patients and ultimately to end this disease! Please join this fight and help me Wage Hope to end Pancreatic Cancer. Please make a donation today.
