Dear Family and Friends,

In 1996, I received a diagnosis that changed my life—pancreatic cancer. At the time, I didn’t fully grasp the weight of it all. It’s only in looking back that I realize just how much I went through. Recovery wasn’t easy. There were moments of fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion. But through it all, I had something extraordinary: the steadfast love and strength of my family.

I truly believe I wouldn’t be here today without them. Their faith in me, their hope, and their refusal to give up gave me the courage to keep going—even when I didn’t think I could. For that, I am endlessly grateful.

This year, I’m dedicating my fundraising efforts to the caregivers—the silent heroes who lift us up when we feel our weakest. And most especially, I want to honor my mom, Lolita Lapid. She was my anchor, my cheerleader, and the heart of our family. Her words and her spirit carried me through the darkest days. She taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of always moving forward, no matter how hard the path.

On July 11, 2024, Mom passed away peacefully. I miss her more than words can say. But I feel her with me—in quiet moments, in my strength, and in every act of love I share with others. She’s still guiding me, just as she always has.

Thank you all for your continued love and support. I carry each of you in my heart.

P.S.  This picture was taken in 2013 at my first PurpleStride.  I was the survivor speaker back  then.   And mom was my biggest cheerleader.

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
