Welcome to Donna's Personal Page

My daughter Elinor was passionate about running and ran many marathons including the Boston Marathon 2013!  She was denied her dream of finishing Boston, as the bombing occurred when she was one mile from the finish line.  She returned home and promptly ran another marathon to achieve a qualifying time to again compete in the Boston Marathon.  She did it!  She registered for and was accepted to run the Boston Marathon 2014.

In January 2014, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.   Amazingly, Elinor returned to Boston in April 2014 to finish the final mile of the Marathon. She walked part of the final mile, but RAN across the finish line!  Elinor died on September 12, 2014, leaving four children, ages 9 to 28.

I agreed to be the co-chair for our inaugural PurpleStride Sioux Falls 2017 and 2018.  I assumed the role of chair for PurpleStride in 2019.  When I initially began to work on PurpleStride my only focus was to honor Elinor.  However, as I continued my journey, I met several survivors and my feelings evolved.  Now I walk not only to honor Elinor but also for our amazing survivors!

Please join me and participate in the PurpleStride South Dakota 2022!
