Moments Matter

I had countless memorable moments with my Dad.  Celebrating family milestones and Jewish holidays, trips Downtown on the Rapid on Black Friday, visits to NASA, walking a full marathon in Phoenix, hearing jokes and lots of stories. I only wish there could have been many more moments.

My Dad

Marvin Warshay was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July, 2015.  After a courageous, 2 year battle, he passed away on July 11, 2017. My Dad was an amazingly kind, loving, intelligent and positive person.  And funny—boy was he funny!  I remember him with love, and often with laughter, every day.  I am participating in Virtual PurpleStride Cleveland in his memory and in honor of all the fighters out there.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (

attacks pancreatic cancer on all fronts: research, clinical initiatives, patient services and advocacy. This year, the 5-year survival rate increased to 10%.  It's not enough, but it's an improvement.

You are invited

to join me on Saturday, June 13th, 2020 and remember my Dad.  Take a walk or a run in his memory.  Plant or eat some tomatoes, blueberries or raspberries.  Read the New York Times or the New Republic magazine, take a Shabbos (Jewish day of rest) nap, tell jokes, listen to Gilbert and Sullivan, whistle, learn about a historical event or do any of the other myriad of things that would honor his memory.

Here’s to a time in the future when no one has to lose a loved one to pancreatic cancer.

Love, Alisa
