Welcome to Joanne's Fundraising Page

Sunny Ringstrom and I worked in the same laboratory at Northwestern University, and she taught me so much about cooking, money management, science, and more. Unfortunately, she passed away in 2014 due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Before she died, I promised her that I would walk in PurpleStride St. Louis each year in her memory, raising funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Pancreatic cancer has a five-year survival rate of only 13%, and a diagnosis is usually made in the late stages of the disease. More research is needed to develop screening tests and more effective treatments.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
