Why I PanCAN PurpleStride:  In May 2012 my Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer.  Just putting "pancreatic" in front of the word "cancer" means death sentence in my mind because my husband and I had already lost his aunt to what turned out to be pancreatic cancer.  Dad fought it like a champion and he survived until July 2014.  During Dad's battle I searched for more information and more options and that's when I found the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).  I called them and the sweetest most caring person on earth talked me though a lot of the details and then shipped me a lot of information on pancreatic cancer, caring for a pancreatic cancer patient, and clinical trials.  Although Dad ultimately did not choose to participate in a clinical trial the information from Pancreatic Cancer Action Network was invaluable to my family.

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
