March 30, 2006 my life was forever changed when 2 doctors and several hospital personnel walked into my Nanna's hospital room and gave us the news that she had 4th stage pancreatic cancer that had metastasized into her liver and gall bladder. I had never heard of pancreatic cancer and couldn't even recall where the pancreas was located in the body. Three short months later on July 9, 2006 she lost her fight with this lethal cancer. For years I looked for ways to get involved in events to help bring awareness, fundraise etc and could not find anything. Then in November 2011 I began volunteering for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
