Striding again to fight pancreatic cancer April 27

Yes, I'm once again raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as a participant in PurpleStride Tennessee. I'll be walking 5K in Nashville on April 27. 

Some of you probably know this story by heart: Shortly after I turned 18, my father, F.C. "Bill" Steinhice, died of pancreatic cancer. There were so many questions I didn't have time to ask him. His grandchildren only know about him from pictures and stories. And each year, more and more families are facing the same heartbreak.

Pancreatic cancer is now the third leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. The five-year survival rate keeps crawling upwards since my first PurpleStride in 2011. But it's still just 13% -- by far the lowest of any major cancer.

Yes, we're seeing progress in better treatments, but we desperately need more research -- especially to find a reliable method of early detection. Donations from people like you and me provide the seed money for that critical research.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
