Gerald's Team PurpleStride 2023

I'm raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in PurpleStride as I honor Gerald's Legacy.

Gerald's Story:

On July 20, 2016 Gerald was diagnosed with stage 2B pancreatic cancer.  He battled this disease for 3 years and 9 months.  During that time he had numerous surgeries, dozens of blood transfusions, over 46 chemotherapies, and radiation.  He fought hard and never wanted to give up, for us.  In January of 2020, he was told the chemo was no longer working and to enjoy the time he had left with his family.  So for the next 2 months, he did that at home with the help of Hospice.

On March 29, 2020, Gerald lost his fight with Pancreatic  Cancer.  Now  two and and a half  years later, we remain heartbroken as a family,  but we will always continue to raise awareness for this disease and hope for a cure.  He will forever be in our hearts and as we continue his fight.  He is our hero.

Our family and friends will be walking in his memory and for all others who have passed and are fighting.  The money raised will go to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to support cancer research.  

Pancreatic cancer has only a 11% survival rate of 5 years, and is the 3rd deadliest cancer.  Please help raise these survival numbers.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
