This year 2025 will be our family’s 14th year supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN) PurpleStride St Louis the walk to end Pancreatic Cancer.

PurpleStride is an amazing day where survivors, families, caregivers, friends, physicians, and researchers celebrate people who are currently affected, honor those we've lost and take steps to end pancreatic cancer.

We began our walk in 2011 when my sister Marge was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In 2012 I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, and underwent Whipple Surgery, on April 15th, followed by chemo and radiation. I am 13 years cancer free. 

My team “Gerry’s Family and Friends” is  raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in hopes of changing the course of this devastating disease. Your donations give new hope and more time to current patients, advance research, increase survival rates, and educate the world about the importance of early detection. The five-year survival rate for patients with pancreatic cancer has risen to 13%. Over the past decade, the five-year survival rate has gone from 6% to 13%! Let's continue to work together to achieve Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's goal of reaching a five-year survival rate of 20% by 2030. We are making a difference, but there's more work to be done. Together we will get there!

The St. Louis Purple Stride Walk is scheduled for 8AM, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park. Pancreatic cancer continues to affect thousands of patients and families every day. It is important that we continue our mission to wage hope and support efforts to raise critical resources to battle the world's toughest cancer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
