Welcome to My Personal Page
I'm raising money in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network by participating in PurpleStride Sacramento 2019. As many of you know I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer in July 2005. I have volunteered with this wonderful organization since late 2005 in leadership roles in the Bay Area and have been the Social Media Chair here in Sacramento. This year, I am the Logistics Chair for PurpleStride Sacramento 2019!
I am so proud of what this organization has accomplished since I first joined and how they are changing the course of this disease. When my dad was diagnosed, the 5-year survival rate was just 6% and through the efforts of this organization and the research they fund, the survival rate has gone up to 9%. Monies raised by PurpleStride events fund research grants and large scale research initiatives like Know Your Tumor, Precision Promise and the Early Detection Initiative. Since 2003, more than $57M has been invested in 167 grants at 62 institutions!
Other programs include Patient Central where patients and caregivers call for free information on the diagnosis and help with finding specialists and clinical trials in their area. Every year, our Advocacy Day is held in Washington, DC where nearly 700 people from across the country wear their purple and tell Congress why funding for the pancreatic cancer research is a priority.
As you can tell, I'm quite passionate about this cause and what the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is doing to change the course of this disease. It is a challenging one, but we are making progress. By making a donation, you are supporting efforts to double the survival rate for this deadly disease. Any donation to support patients is great appreciated! Thank you for your support of my volunteer efforts throughout the years.
