In the summer of 2011, I went to the emergency room for a kidney stone. After months of testing, it was determined that I had a cancerous tumor on my pancreas and needed surgery to remove the tail of my pancreas, my spleen, and 21 lymph nodes. On November 15, 2011, the surgeons were able to remove all of the tumor and I was declared cancer free! 12 years later, I am healthy and enjoying my second chance at life. Each year, I celebrate with a mission in mind: to end pancreatic cancer so that my story of survival can be the story of the other 810% of people who are diagnosed and stories do not end like mine.
